Coulomb and the Evolution of Physics and Engineering in

The Engineering Physics undergraduate major, administered by the School of Engineering, is designed for students who have an interest in and an aptitude for both engineering and physics. The program provides students with a firm foundation in physics and mathematics, together with engineering design and problem-solving skills. The purpose of the master’s program is to further develop knowledge and skills in applied physics and to prepare students for a professional career or doctoral studies. This is achieved through completion of courses, in the primary field as well as related areas. 45 units of completed course work in science and/or engineering at Stanford are The Spring/Summer Research Program offered by the Departments of Physics, Applied Physics and SLAC provides Fellowships to Stanford undergraduate Physics and Engineering Physics majors, plus undeclared first-year students who are considering Physics/Engineering Physics as a major, who wish to dedicate ten weeks of either Spring or Summer quarter to join a physics research group under the Engineering Physics (EPhys) Combines physics and mathematics with engineering design and problem-solving skills. Undergraduate degrees offered: Bachelor of Science, Honors. Individually Designed Major in Engineering Design your own program in an area not covered by existing majors.

degree in engineering and physics is offered jointly by the School of Engineering and the Department of Physics. It enables students to craft a program that combines both disciplines, and provides an excellent foundation for a research career. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials science, physics, applied physics, engineering, or optics. Prior experience in 2D crystal growth, atomic-scale characterization, or heterostructure fabrication is advantageous but not required. Interested applicants should send a CV to Professor Andy Mannix (ajmannix [at] stanford.edu). Q. Who can I contact to learn more about the Engineering Physics program? A. Darlene Lazar (dlazar@stanford.edu) is the Student Services Officer.

This first-year, graduate-level text and reference book covers the fundamental concepts and twenty-first-century applications of six major areas of classical physics that every masters- or PhD-level physicist should be exposed to, but often isn't: statistical physics, optics (waves of all sorts), elastodynamics, fluid mechanics, plasma physics, and special and general relativity and cosmology. The Department of Applied Physics offers qualified students with backgrounds in physics or engineering the opportunity to do graduate course work and  The School of Engineering offers undergraduate programs leading to the High school courses in physics and chemistry are strongly recommended, but not  the "40" series: a calculus-based sequence for most physical science and engineering students; the "60" series: for students with signifigant preparation in physics  18 units of advanced coursework in science and/or engineering to fit the particular interests of the individual student.
